Ruben Loftus-Cheek has heaped praise on England captain Harry Kane, revealing that his shooting power in training sessions is 'ridiculous'.
In a wide-ranging interview with England's YouTube channel, the up-and-coming midfielder lifts the lid on his first impressions after receiving the England call-up.
Speaking about Kane, the former Crystal Palace loanee said: 'Big man up top. His shooting is ridiculous in training. The power he gets behind it.
'I was behind a shot, and he didn't take a run-up, it was kind of under his feet as well. The velocity on the shot, and it came off the post. He's a top guy as well and he deserves everything he's getting, and well done on getting the captaincy as well.'
Loftus-Cheek also spoke about Gareth Southgate, the man who gave him his spot in this summer's World Cup squad.
'I've worked with Gareth in the U21s for a few years, and we ended up winning the Toulon Tournament, which was massive,' he told England presenter Craig Mitch.
'I think it was 22 years since we last won it, so that was massive. We had a good unbeaten run going into the Euros over a two-year spell, so we had some good times.'
Loftus-Cheek made his England debut against Germany in November 2017, producing an incredible double nutmeg during his man-of-the-match performance.
Alongside a question on that, Loftus-Cheek was also asked about his reaction to getting the call-up for this summer's tournament in Russia.
'I was ecstatic,' he continued. 'A bit of me thought, "Yeah I've got a chance of getting in the squad", especially when Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain got injured.
'Gutted for him, but when I did get the call I rang my dad, rang my mum. They took me to training every Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, Sunday.'
