Jose Mourinho has lined up former Inter Milan coach Stefano Rapetti for his staff at Manchester United.
Rapetti is leaving his post as fitness coach of Italian Serie A side Sampdoria to link up with Mourinho, who is reshuffling his backroom team following the departure of Rui Faria.
Mourinho will promote Michael Carrick and United U18s coach Kieran McKenna to his first team set-up but also wants Rapetti.
The 41-year-old Italian was in charge of Inter Milan's U19s when Mourinho arrived at Inter but was promoted to work on fitness and rehabilitation with the first team as Mourinho guided the Italians to the treble in 2010.
Asked by Portuguese press this week about whether he could reveal who is next assistant would be, Mourinho replied: 'No. It’s a person coming who worked with me before but I can’t say the name because he’s still linked to another club.
'Michael Carrick becomes a coach on the pitch but I’m looking for two new people on the team. Good coaches there are many, but I like to make my assistants.
'I do not like trained coaches, I like to shape them in my way of thinking and they grow with me and I also grow with them.
