The Portuguese manager was unable to keep the Swans in the Premier League, and as a result, the club have decided not to keep his in the dugout
Swansea City have confirmed that they will not be extending Carlos Carvalhal's contract at the Liberty Stadium.
The Portuguese took charge of the Swans in December following the sacking of Paul Clement, but will not stay on as manager following their relegation from the Premier League.
Swansea chairman Huw Jenkins praised Carvalhal for the work he had done for the club, but is now seeking a new direction as they look to win promotion from the Championship next season.
We’d like to put on record our thanks to Carlos for his enthusiasm, hard work and commitment since arriving at the club in December," Jenkins told the club's official website.
“Naturally, we are all disappointed with the club’s relegation from the Premier League, and following discussions with Carlos, we felt it was in the best interests of both parties that we move in a new direction.
“We will now be looking to appoint a new manager in readiness for the 2018-19 season."
