Wenger gives his tie to lucky young Arsenal fan during lap of honour

Always the gentleman, Arsene Wenger gifted his tie to a young boy at the Emirates on Sunday as he walked around the pitch for the final time.

The young fan held up a sign as the Arsenal manager circled the ground, which read: 'Arsene, please can I have your tie'.

Wenger noticed the youngster's message during the classy send-off as he walked and waved goodbye to the fans after 22 years in charge.

The 68-year-old made a beeline for the crowd when he saw the sign and loosened his tie before passing it to the young Gunner.

All the fans surrounding the boy began taking photos and trying to shake Wenger's hand, while another youngster looked visibly shocked the Arsenal man was within touching distance.

Arsenal gave their most successful ever manager a fitting send-off on Sunday, with a guard of honour to start things off before thrashing Burnley 5-0.

After the match there was a special tribute to the manager as he was presented with a golden trophy in celebration of his greatest achievement on the pitch - an invincible Premier League season.

Following this, Wenger gave a heartfelt speech: 'Thank you all for having me for such a long time, I know that's not easy.

'But above all I am like you, I am an Arsenal fan. That means this is more than watching football, it is a way of life, it is caring about the beautiful game and the values we cherish.

'I would like to thank everyone at this club who makes this place so special, I want you to support the staff left behind me. This group of players has a special quality on and off the pitch. Support this team next season, they really deserve it.

'I would like to finish with a simple word – I will miss you... Thank you all for being such an important part of my life. Thank you, well done, bye bye.'

After the emotional farewell from Wenger, he led his team on a parade of the stadium for the final time, waving all the while as he said goodbye.
