Liam Kelly has agreed a two-year contract with Coventry, with the move subject to English Football League and Football Association approval.
Kelly, 27, has signed a deal at the Ricoh Arena and will officially transfer from Leyton Orient to the Sky Blues on July 1, if the move is approved.
Coventry boss Mark Robins is happy to bring in the former Leyton Orient captain and told the club website: "We're delighted at the prospect of welcoming Liam to the club.
"He is a very talented footballer who will contribute goals from midfield for us, which is something that is vital to any successful team.
"Liam is also a leader both on and off the pitch, and a fantastic character to have around the club.
"I'm looking forward to working with him."
The Milton Keynes-born midfielder began his career at Kilmarnock where he made more than 100 appearances between 2009 and 2013 before he moved to Bristol City.
He then transferred to Oldham where he was made club captain and moved to Orient where he once again filled the role.
