Ederson and Bernardo Silva enjoy some time in the sun as Man City's players enjoy time off

Manchester City's players are enjoying time in the sun and away from the training ground after being given time off by manager Pep Guardiola.

Guardiola allowed his players to take time out after they wrapped up the Premier League last month.

A number of the City squad wasted no time in booking trips away from Manchester.

Goalkeeper Ederson and midfielder Bernardo Silva have both jetted off to the south of France.

Ederson posted on a number of pictures on Instagram of him and wife Lais along with their daughter on a yacht.

Bernardo Silva, meanwhile, chose to head to the famous Buddha Bar in Monaco with partner Alicia Verrando.

'Happy International May Day everyone! Enjoying a mini break with @aliciaverrando in Monaco. What are you doing on your day off?' Bernardo Silva posted on Instagram.

One player who did choose to stay at home in Manchester was defender Nicolas Otamendi.

Otamendi posted a selfie of himself on Instagram, with the caption: '#miercoles #tarde #afternoon #manchester.'

City's players are due back at the end of the week ahead of the Premier League clash against Huddersfield at the Etihad.

Guardiola challenged his players to become the best team in the history of English football after beating West Ham last weekend.

City have now scored 102 goals in the Premier League this season and are only one win from breaking the record for points in the top flight — currently Chelsea's 95 from 2004-05.

Guardiola said: 'Like the last game against Swansea, we take it seriously, we respect the competition,' said the City boss, whose side face Huddersfield at home next.

'Huddersfield, Brighton, Southampton deserve for us to be who we are all season.

'It would not be fair to them if we came down here for a holiday. We have to show who we are, who we have been all season, that's why we've scored nine goals in two games (since becoming champions).

'The team did well. It was a good performance and that is why I'm delighted with what we have done. I'm happy next Sunday we will receive the Premier League trophy and have the chance to be the best team in history in England, the most points. We are going to try to do it.

'They are professionals. They want to play. They want to play for something, too. Once we'd won the Premier League, the target was the numbers. It is not easy to break records, so we will have to play well. It's good to see something to fight for, to achieve something.'
