EA Sports announce completely free World Cup mode for FIFA 18

Everyone knew it was coming, but EA Sports just made it official. There will be a World Cup mode coming to FIFA 18 very soon.

The World Cup mode will be completely free for FIFA 18 owners on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, and Nintendo Switch from May 29.

The update will include the official 2018 FIFA World Cup, FIFA World Cup Kick-off, Custom FIFA World Cup Tournament, and FIFA World Cup Ultimate Team.

In the standard World Cup mode, you'll choose one of the 32 qualified nations and play from the group stage up to the final in Moscow.

In the custom FIFA World Cup mode, you can select any of the international teams in FIFA 18, including those who didn't qualify, create your own tournament draw, and play through that way.

The World Cup Ultimate Team mode adds a revised chemistry system, FIFA World Cup Icons from the tournament's history, and dynamic player items based on their performance in the actual tournament when it kicks off.

Instead of increasing team chemistry using clubs and leagues, you will have to think more about nationality and confederation. The national squads will be fully up to date and the players will have refreshed ratings.

Plus, for every Standard or Premium Pack you purchase in the World Cup Ultimate Team mode, you'll receive the equivalent pack value in standard FUT.

The Kick-off mode is simply for one off matches solo or with friends using the officially licensed kits, stadiums, and presentation elements.

These presentation elements include all 12 stadiums from the Russia World Cup, with authentic pitch environments, advertising, dressing, team banners, and high resolution crowds. There'll also be a new presentation package with additional cinematic scenes.

The 2018 FIFA World Cup is also coming to FIFA Mobile for a limited time on June 6 with the standard and custom World Cup modes.
