The first batch of new jerseys for the 2018-19 season are being launched, with some of the biggest names in football unveiling new uniforms
The 2017-18 season is almost over, so it is now the perfect time to get excited for the 2018-19 season, which brings renewed hope for fans of struggling teams and increased belief that successful sides can become invincible.
Transfer rumours whet the appetite of supporters, who look forward to seeing how the summer additions perform at their clubs - where they will wear the club's brand new kit.
New kit launches also keep supporters interested ahead of the upcoming campaign, and also allow fans to show off their team's new uniform before they even see the club's players wearing it.
Even though we are still months away from the 2018-19 season, clubs have already begun launching their new kits.
Goal looks at all the new 2018-19 kits that have been officially launched so far.
2018-19 Premier League kits
Liverpool were the first Premier League club to launch their kit for the 2018-19 season, revealing their new look ahead of their Champions League semi-final with Roma. The New Balance home kit retains the popular pepper red colouring and pays tribute to the victims of the Hillsborough disaster by including the eternal flame on the neck of the shirt.
Young defender Trent Alexander-Arnold is a big fan of the new strip, which brings back the collar that had been absent from the 2017-18 jersey: "It is exciting to get the new kit and try something new on. It's a little bit different to last year and it has kept its simplicity and added a collar. I think it's a bit different when you walk into the 'changies' and you see a different kit hanging up and you are excited to put it on and see how it feels," he said.
Some other kits for the 2018-19 season have also been leaked online, including Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester City and Manchester United, but these have not been officially unveiled by the kit manufacturers, so may not be correct.
2018-19 La Liga kits
None of the big teams in La Liga have unveiled their kits for 2018-19 yet, but Real Madrid will continue their partnership with Adidas, with the famous white strip unlikely to change drastically from the 2017-18 edition.
Barcelona are celebrating 20 years using Nike jerseys, and are set to pay homage to some of their classic looks with their new kit. Examples have been leaked online, but eagle-eyed supporters have questioned the colouring used in some of the images.
It is expected that many of the new kits will be launched in June so that fans can get their hands on them before the World Cup.
2018-19 European club kits
Like Liverpool, Celtic released their new kit for the 2018-19 season early, launching the new look in April. Like the Reds, the Hoops' shirt is also manufactured by New Balance, and features a "'bespoke tonal tartan design" in the green sections of the home jersey.
Celtic captain Scott Brown believes that the club's huge following will be impressed with their new look, revealing how he felt when pulling on the jersey for the first time: "That moment when you first try on the new kit is always really exciting. Everything from the design to the inspiration behind the kit is absolutely spot on this year.
"For more than 10 years I have had the honour of pulling on the famous Celtic jersey, as a Celtic fan and player I can’t wait to play in this new kit and see how it goes down with our supporters."
Two of the biggest teams in the Netherlands have also unveiled their new offerings for 2018-19. Ajax launched their new away kit on their social media channels, asking their fans to give it a rating from 1 to 10. The reaction was largely positive, with supporters mostly praising the new dark away jersey.
PSV also launched a new away jersey for next season, with Umbro's 2018-19 edition attempting to recreate the look of their classic Adidas shirt from 30 years ago when they beat Benfica on penalties in the European Cup final to win the treble.
The majority of clubs will wait until near the end of the season or else during the summer to release their new strips, although some often use the final game of the campaign as a marketing exercise for their new kit, giving it an official run out on the last day.
2018-19 international kits
All 32 countries who have qualified for the World Cup have unveiled new kits, with each qualifier having new home and away shirts for the tournament in Russia.
Many of the nations have jerseys supplied by Adidas, and these ones are all designed with a retro feel harking back to some vintage kits. For example, Germany's new shirt is a modern take on the famous 1990 jersey, while Spain's home shirt contains elements of their 1994 World Cup jersey as well as some of their 1980s strips.
Nike supplies the kits for England, Portugal and France, all containing the trademark swoosh. Portugal's is in gold to celebrate their Euro 2016 victory.
