Saudi Arabia striker Mohammad Al-Sahlawi is to train with Manchester United for three weeks.

The 31-year-old boasts an impressive scoring record of 26 goals in 33 internationals and is set to sharpen his skills in the elite company of Jose Mourinho's side.

Al-Sahlawi is a key player for Saudi Arabia is looking to reach his best before the World Cup this summer.

Chairman of the General Sports Authority (GSA) of Saudi Arabia, Turki Al-Sheikh, announced the news on Twitter.

'It was agreed with Manchester United for Mohammed Al-Sahlawi to join for a training programme for three weeks, may God benefit him.'

Mourinho is not interested in signing Al-Sahlawi, who plays for Al-Nassr in his homeland but the arrangement is part of a commercial agreement with the Old Trafford club and sporting authorities in the Gulf state.

United provide expertise in both business and sport and Al-Sheikh previously said: 'This relationship is part of an exciting programme we are undertaking to transform sport in Saudi Arabia.'

Preparations haven't gone particularly smoothly for the World Cup so far and Saudi were comfortably beaten 4-0 by Belgium in a friendly on Tuesday.

But Al-Sahlawi could make headlines for his side in 74 days when football's showpiece kicks-off.

His side face Russia in the opening game of the tournament and if FIFA's 69th ranked team can spring an upset their prolific forward is likely to have his say.
