Gordon transfer rumors? Newcastle boss howe says talks aren't involving him

TA indicated that Eddie Howe has given the clearest signal yet that Gordon is very likely to leave Newcastle United this summer. Gordon has recently been linked with Barcelona and Bayern.

TA pointed out that Gordon has been attracting interest from top Premier League and European clubs, with Bayern Munich and Chelsea both keen to sign him, and the player himself is not averse to leaving St. James' Park.

Newcastle signed the forward from Everton in January 2023 for £40 million plus £5 million in add-ons, and are now expected to sell him for a significant profit.

Gordon missed Newcastle's two matches against Bournemouth and Arsenal last month due to a minor hip injury. In the last two rounds against Brighton and Nottingham Forest, he was included in the squad but did not get any playing time.

After the Nottingham Forest match, Eddie Howe admitted in an interview that the decision not to call up Gordon for two consecutive weeks was part of a future plan for next season; he reiterated this statement at the pre-match press conference on Sunday before the home game against West Ham United.

When asked if Gordon was deliberately not used due to doubts about his future with the team, Eddie Howe replied, "At this stage of the season, we naturally start planning for next season.

Gordon has just returned from injury, and the team performed well during his absence. Part of the reason for not playing him is indeed to consider the team's future."

Regarding transfer rumors about Gordon's departure, the manager said, "I don't have any updates on that. Even if negotiations are ongoing, I am not involved in them."

In addition, center-back Schar has not played for Newcastle since suffering a foot injury and subsequent infection in January this year. The 34-year-old's contract expires this summer, and it is highly likely that he has already played his last game for the team.
