OFFICIAL: Madrid Court confirms UEFA’s abuse of dominant position in ESL case

Real Madrid wrote in their official announcement: Real Madrid C.F. welcomes the Madrid Provincial Court's dismissal of the appeals filed by UEFA, the RFEF (Royal Spanish Football Federation), and LALIGA, confirming that UEFA, in the Super League matter, seriously infringed European Union free competition rules, in line with the CJEU (Court of Justice of the European Union) ruling, by abusing its dominant position.

This ruling paves the way for the club to claim substantial damages.

Real Madrid also reports that throughout 2025 it held numerous discussions with UEFA to find solutions, but no agreement was reached regarding more transparent governance, financial sustainability, protection of players' health, and improvements to the fan experience, including free and globally accessible broadcasting models, as was the case with the FIFA Club World Cup.

Consequently, the club announces that it will continue working for the good of global football and its fans, while also seeking compensation from UEFA for the substantial damages suffered.
