Raul Garcia hits double as Athletic beat Leganes

Raul Garcia hit an early double for Athletic Club who beat Leganes 2-0 which will boost their confidence as they warm up for the visit of Marseille in the Europa League needing to overturn a 3-1 away defeat.

Athletic had been disappointing as much in their previous LaLiga game away to Sevilla which they lost 2-0, as the showing in France but now they have something to build on.

A goalkeeping error by Cuellar and then poor control from Ruben Perez led to the goals after 15 and 17 minutes, but it was not an assured performance from Athletic with the visitors having more of the ball and Amrabat causing danger down the left wing.

Leganes had their chances to score with two fine saves by Kepa and a poor finish from El Zhar ensuring Athletic had a clean sheet.
