The Liga MX’s Apertura 2025 tournament gets underway this Friday at Estadio Cuauhtémoc, where Puebla will host Atlas in the opening game of matchday one. However, several teams will begin the campaign without full rosters due to injuries, international duty, or ongoing transfer activity.
Club América:
The Clausura 2025 runners-up will be without forwards Henry Martín and Rodrigo Aguirre, both recovering from muscle injuries. Goalkeeper Luis Malagón and defender Israel Reyes are also unavailable, having been granted rest after competing in the Gold Cup with the Mexican national team.
Chivas:
Head coach Gabriel Milito will have to reshuffle his backline, as defenders Bryan González, Leonardo Sepúlveda, and Miguel Tapias are all sidelined with injuries.
Cruz Azul:
Los Cementeros are still active in the transfer market. On Wednesday, club executive Iván Alonso confirmed the departures of strikers Giorgos Giakoumakis and Gabriel Fernández.
Pumas:
Like Cruz Azul, Pumas are still looking to bolster their roster. They’ve already made a splash by signing Welsh midfielder Aaron Ramsey. Meanwhile, Rogelio Funes Mori and Robert Ergas have officially left the club.
Tigres:
Star striker André-Pierre Gignac will miss the start of the tournament as he continues to recover from injury. Additionally, defenders Eduardo Tercero and Raymundo Fulgencio are no longer with the team.
