Mexico kicked off its 2025 Gold Cup campaign on a high note on Saturday, defeating the Dominican Republic 4-2. Now, Javier Aguirre’s men will look to add another three points when they take on Suriname next week.
As the reigning Gold Cup champion, the Mexicans are the heavy favorites to beat the Surinamese, who are one of the weaker teams in the tournament.
Suriname vs Mexico: when, where?
Played at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, the Group A matchday-two clash is scheduled for Wednesday, June 18, with kick-off at 10:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m. PT.
When did Mexico last face Suriname?
The last time Mexico faced Suriname was in the Nations League in March 2023, when the 12-time CONCACAF champions won 2-0. Johan Vásquez opened the scoring for the Mexicans, before an own goal by Damil Dankerlui.
In its final group-stage game at the Gold Cup, Mexico then faces Costa Rica next Sunday in a matchup that will come with an added edge.
That’s because the Costa Ricans are now managed by El Tri’s former head coach, Miguel Herrera, who was this year appointed by Los Ticos on a deal running through to the 2026 World Cup.
