OFFICIAL: Caoimhim Kelleher joins Brentford for £18m & add-ons included

Brentford have confirmed the signing of goalkeeper Caoimhin Kelleher from Liverpool in a deal worth £18million.

Club Statement:

Brentford have officially announced the permanent signing of Republic of Ireland international goalkeeper Caoimhín Kelleher from Liverpool.

Kelleher has signed a five-year contract, with the club holding an option to extend it by an additional 12 months. The 25-year-old leaves Liverpool after making 67 appearances across all competitions and keeping 24 clean sheets. He was part of the squad that won the Premier League title twice.

Brentford Director of Football Phil Giles said:

“I’m very pleased to welcome Caoimhín to Brentford. We’ve monitored him for some time and were aware his contract at Liverpool was entering its final year.”

“When the opportunity arose for Mark Flekken to join Leverkusen, Caoimhín was immediately our first choice. He’s not only a top goalkeeper, but it’s rare to find someone so widely praised for their character. I’m confident he’ll be an excellent addition to the squad.”

First-team goalkeeping coach Manu Sotelo added:
