Liam Delap is on Manchester United's radar but the Ipswich frontman hasn't decided on his next destination with the Europa League final integral to his decision

Liam Delap's future is set to be determined by the result of Wednesday's Europa League final as Manchester United eye the Ipswich Town forward, with United's summer plans taking shape ahead of their showdown with Tottenham.

Ruben Amorim knows that the Red Devils need more firepower and they've made the Ipswich frontman one of their primary targets. Delap has excelled in a relegated team since joining them in the summer and looks set to get a move away from Portman Road.

The ex-Manchester City man has scored 12 times, leading the line impressively, with United and Chelsea now both keen on the 22-year-old, who has a £30million release clause.

ESPN reports that Delap will almost certainly head to Manchester if they win the Europa League - which would grant them a path into the Champions League. Defeat though would leave them without European football and bring the Blues into the equation.

Chelsea are admirers and can secure Champions League football on the final day of the season. Worst way they will be in Europe in some form - the tournament yet to be confirmed.

United have made Delap their primary target in the final third - ahead of both Viktor Gyokeres and Victor Osimhen. However no European football when it comes to negotiations would see Chelsea become the favourites to sign the Ipswich man.

Delap only moved to Ipswich from City for £15m back in the summer. Those at the Etihad have the option to re-sign him for £40m, but they have no interest in doing so leaving Chelsea and those on the red side of Manchester to battle it out for his signature.

Executives from Manchester have held face-to-face talks with Delap. The club have the finances to sign Delap and Cunha regardless of how the Europa League final goes as Amorim's overhaul begins.

The Red Devils have already made moves to sign Matheus Cunha from Wolves for just over £60m with that transfer currently progressing. Amorim needs to add considerable quality to his attack with the likes of Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee both struggling.
