Olympique de Marseille are looking to sign a replacement for outgoing forward striker Elye Wahi (24), who is set to join Bundesliga side Eintracht Frankfurt imminently on a permanent move. L’Équipe journalist Loïc Tanzi understands now that Les Olympiens have started direct talks with Stade Rennais over the possible transfer of striker Amine Gouiri (24). During the initial negotiations, Ismaël Koné has been mentioned as a possible moving part in the direction of Brittany. Earlier Marseille manager Roberto De Zerbi spoke about the Wahi situation in his pre-match press conference, clearly outlining that he expected a ‘strong replacement’ for the former RC Lens & Montpellier striker. L’OM have reached an agreement worth €26m plus add-ons with Frankfurt over a permanent transfer, with the player reportedly arriving today to complete his medical. Amine Gouiri joined Stade Rennais from OGC Nice in September 2022 for a transfer fee reported to be around €28m. The now-converted Algeria international has made 102 appearances with Les Rouge et Noir, scoring 30 goals in two and a half years at the Breton side. GFFN | George Boxall
