England goalkeeper Mary Earps has signed a two-year contract with Paris Saint-Germain after leaving Manchester United.

Earps, who was named BBC Sports Personality of the Year for 2023, turned down the offer of a new contract from United, with the goalkeeper claiming the club's ambitions did not align with hers.

Mail Sport reported last week that Earps was set to sign PSG and the move has now been confirmed, with the 31-year-old set to join up with the French club after this month's international break.

'Joining Paris Saint-Germain is a fantastic opportunity,' Earps said. 'I am very honoured to become a Parisian and I look forward to evolving alongside my new team-mates.

'Together, we will give the best of ourselves to make the club shine and make our supporters proud.

'I am determined to contribute to our future success so that Paris Saint-Germain continues to be among the best European clubs.’

Earps, who has won the FIFA Best goalkeeper award for the last two years, suggested she could not achieve her ambitions at United while the club undergoes a period of 'transition'.

United's co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe caused controversy last week by stating that plans for the women's team are 'TBC'while it emerged Marc Skinner's side would be moved out of their £10million training facility to accommodate the men's team while their areas are upgraded.

'Dear the United family, after five years of service to your great club, I have decided that it's time for a new challenge,' Earps wrote on social media.

'It's a decision I've gone backwards and forwards on for some time, and is not one I've made lightly.

'The club is about to undergo a period of transition, and unfortunately I don't feel it aligns with the timing of where I'm at in my career, therefore I think now is the right time to make a change and embark on a new challenge.’

Earps is part of the England squad that has travelled to the Netherlands for a behind-closed-doors friendly ahead of Euro 2025 qualifiers against the Republic of Ireland and Sweden later this month.
