Davide Santon has left social media after receiving abuse for his mistake during Inter’s 1-1 draw with Roma on Sunday.

Santon’s error gifted Stephan El Shaarawy the opener at San Siro, but despite apologising at the time of his substitution and Luciano Spalletti standing up for the full-back, he attracted a slew of insults on his official Instagram account.

Consequently, the former Newcastle United defender has decided to deactivate his profile.

The 27-year-old has made just 10 appearances for the Nerazzurri this season, while his contract is due to expire in June.
