PSG plot double Lille swoop as they consider move for Lucas Chevalier

Paris Saint-Germain are considering a move for Lille OSC’s Lucas Chevalier (22) as they look to strengthen their goalkeeping rotation and provide Gianluigi Donnarumma with some significant competition from next season.

Donnarumma’s abilities as a premier shot-stopper are not in question but there is a suggestion that the Italian has never been particularly strong at playing out from the back – a necessary prerequisite under Luis Enrique’s management.

This problem added with his tendency to make high-profile mistakes in high-stakes matches has often left question marks over the goalkeeper’s future status in Paris. And the club have frequently been linked with reports that they are assessing their options.

Chevalier’s profile looks to be a perfect fit for the new project building in PSG. Young, French, and with a high potential for growth, and it helps that he has proven during his time playing under Paulo Fonseca that he is more than comfortable with the ball at his feet.

Foot Mercato writes that the French champions, already linked once with Lille over the transfer of Leny Yoro, could make it a double swoop as they also look to Chevalier.
