Man United 'make contact with Bayern Munich with a view to sign Mathys Tel'

Manchester United have reportedly made an enquiry with Bayern Munich regarding French starlet Mathys Tel.

Tel joined Bayern from Rennes in the summer of 2022 for a reported £25million, signing a five-year-deal at the Allianz Arena.

In September of that year the France youth international became Bayern's youngest-ever goalscorer when he netted in a 2-2 draw with Stuttgart aged 17 years and 136 days.

Now 18, Tel has been a regular feature for the club under Thomas Tuchel, netting three times in 17 Bundesliga appearances.

However, Tel has yet to start a league game for the defending champions this season, though he was named in the starting XI as the club were defeated by RB Leipzig in the DFL-Supercup in August.

According to a report from Florian Plettenberg, United are interested in signing Tel this summer with a number of other English clubs also keeping tabs on the talented forward.

However, Tel is said to maintain ambitions of becoming a club legend at Bayern and would only entertain the possibility of a move if he feels the club do not believe in him going forward.

After coming on as a substitute Tel netted a late winner for Tuchel's side against United in September, and was also introduced during the closing stages of the return fixture at Old Trafford.
