Liverpool have captured some shrewd additions in January over the years and could yet do so again.

The Reds underwent a major recruitment drive in the summer as Jurgen Klopp addressed a mass midfield exodus. He bought in several new names in an effort to improve on the club's showing last term, which saw them miss out on the Champions League.

Klopp's side are now very much in the title race, losing just once all year, but several pundits believe their squad is still short if they want to be champions once again. Their spoilt for choice in attack but could look to bring in new faces in other area of the pitch. Here's the latest from Anfield.

Reds can rival Real for Mbappe

Kylian Mbappe could be a man on the move this summer after he entered the final six months of his PSG deal. He's been linked with a move away from Paris for several years, although the French club are still hopeful they want convince him to sign on.

Real Madrid have been seen as the favourites to sign Mbappe on a free transfer in the summer. Their interest in him dates back to his Monaco days but Le Parisien claim that the Frenchman would be open to joining Liverpool

The Reds are seen as the major threat to them signing Mbappe and they could move, especially if Mohamed Salah does decide to quit Anfield and head to Saudi Arabia.

Kimmich exploring options

The Reds and Manchester United are among those heavily linked with the signing of Joshua Kimmich. The Bayern Munich midfielder has entered the final 18 months of his contract in Bavaria, but his value will drop the closer he gets to becoming a free agent.

AS claim that Kimmich, whose versatility has been a major advantage, does not have an agent but is interested in hiring representatives to explore his options. Current Bayern boss Thomas Tuchel has been at odds with how to get the best from the player, seeing him in a different role to others at the club.

Back in the summer Kimmich told BILD: “It was difficult not to come across it [the rumours]. Generally, I’m not too invested in the rumours. I still have, as everyone knows, two years left on my contract and we have big plans [for those two years] at Bayern."

Beck recalled

Liverpool have opted to recall Owen Beck from his loan spell at Dundee. The young full-back was due to spend the season in Scotland but has headed back to Anfield earlier than planned.

Klopp is dealing with an injury crisis at left-back as both Andy Robertson and Kostas Tsimikas are sidelined. Beck is now a potential option having impressed north of the border.

The Scottish club said after announcing his departure: "Owen will be greatly missed by everyone at Dundee FC as he has been outstanding both on and off the field."
