Ademola Lookman signs off for AFCON in style

Super Eagles Ademola Lookman was in imperial for Atalanta in Serie A as he prepares to head out for training camp with the national team ahead of the Africa Cup of Nations in January.

The 26 year was recently named in Nigeria’s squad for the tournament and has now signed off with a goal

Lookman has been in good form for Atalanta recently and his goal for his side on Saturday helped them defeat Lecce 1-0 in a tense encounter at the Gewiss Stadium on Saturday.

After a goalless first half, Atalanta huffed and puffed to no avail until Lookman received a pass from Gianluca Scamacca and rifled home from outside the box to give his side the lead.

The former Fulham forward was later substituted late in the game by Aleksey Miranchuk to a rousing reception by the home fans.

Super Eagles Jose Peseiro will be delighted to see one of his regulars score and report to camp brimming with confidence ahead of the biennial tournament holding in the Ivory Coast.

Lookman has been involved in the joint-most home goals in Serie A this season – 8, with six goals and two assists and a personal tally of seven goals and three assists after 18 games in Serie A.

He will hope to help Nigeria to a fourth African title when the tournaments starts next month in Abidjan. The Super Eagles are in Group of the competition alongside hosts Ivory Coast, Guinea-Bissau and Equatorial Guinea.
