With just over a week until the Premier League season gets underway, managers throughout the top flight are frantically working to put the finishing touches to their squads for 2023-24.

It will be hard to look back on this transfer window as anything other than the Saudi summer, with stars such as Karim Benzema, Fabinho, Riyad Mahrez, Jordan Henderson and N'Golo Kante choosing to follow Cristiano Ronaldo's example by moving to the Middle East.

However, there has also been plenty of eye-catching business across the Premier League with six players moving for more than £50million while Declan Rice joined Arsenal for £105m.

Clubs have undergone rigorous pre-season schedules over the past month but there are still several areas they need to strengthen in, while managers are also keen to shift unwanted stars.

In light of the transfer window entering its final month, Mail Sport's Simon Jones takes a look at how each club is shaping up.

ARSENAL

It's been another summer of spending for Arsenal as they look to back-up last season's impressive second place finish and challenge Manchester City once more.

The Gunners got their business done early with Kai Havertz and their main target Declan Rice through the door, but there is still scope for more movement, with extra reinforcements in the middle and up top still a possibility.

What they need: Goalkeeper cover, midfielder, forward

Who they like: D Raya (Brentford), M Kudus (Ajax), J-C Simic (AC Milan)

Who could go: M Turner, R Holding, N Pepe, F Balogun, S Lokonga, T Partey

ASTON VILLA

Unai Emery's side have prioritised quality over quantity with three impressive signings in Pau Torres, Moussa Diaby and Youri Tielemans.

As they prepare to return to Europe for the first time in 13 years, Aston Villa are still keen to add across the pitch to ensure Emery's squad has the durability to cope with the extra demands this season will bring.

It promises to be an intriguing campaign on the south coast under highly-rated Spanish boss Andoni Iraola.

BRENTFORD

Brentford will be hit hard by the ban handed to Ivan Toney for breaching betting regulations, while David Raya could move to Arsenal.

As a result, the Bees are still keen to bring in attacking options to ease the impact of Toney's absence and they remain keen on long-term target Brennan Johnson.

What they need: Full back, midfielder, forward

Who they like: B Johnson (N Forest)

Who could go: I Toney

BRIGHTON

Very rarely do Brighton seem to get something wrong in the transfer market and yet again they have completed some shrewd additions in the form of Joao Pedro and highly-rated Dutch keeper Bart Verbruggen.

They remain keen on further signings, but are also set to receive significant interest in the likes of Moises Caicedo.

What they need: Forward, midfielder

Who they want: C Palmer (Man City), M Kudus (Ajax), T Adams (Leeds)

CHELSEA

Despite an outlay of more than £600m on 18 players across last season, Chelsea's heavy spending shows no signs of abating.

Mauricio Pochettino wants to reshape his squad - particularly in attack - and they remain keen on a whole host of targets, while several out-of-favour stars could also depart.

CRYSTAL PALACE

It's been a quiet window for Crystal Palace with Jefferson Lerma the only player to come through the door after joining on a free.

Roy Hodgson would desperately like to strengthen in a number areas, particularly with the departure of Wilfried Zaha and the strong interest in star asset Michael Olise.

FULHAM

It has been a tumultuous summer for Fulham with boss Marco Silva rejecting two mega-money offers from the Saudi Pro League, while Al-Hilal are desperate to bring in Aleksandar Mitrovic.

The Cottagers have only added Calvin Bassey and Raul Jimenez and need further additions across the park, especially with Joao Palhinha's shoulder injury.

Who could go: A Mitrovic, J Palhinha, Willian, T Adarabioyo, R Muniz

LIVERPOOL

It's been a dramatic off-season at Liverpool as Jurgen Klopp has lost six senior midfielders from last season, with the departures of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho to Saudi Arabia catching the club by surprise.

They desperately need to strengthen in that area, while a back-up goalkeeper and additional option at centre back would be most welcomed.

What they need: Goalkeeper, midfielders, centre back

Who they like: R Lavia (Southampton), Andre (Fluminense), C Doucoure (C Palace), J Palhinha (Fulham)

Who could go: C Kelleher, N Phillips

LUTON TOWN

Luton's rise to the Premier League was against all odds but that doesn't mean the Bedfordshire club will be happy to make-up the numbers.

The top flight newcomers have already added some of the best talents in the Championship from last season, but Rob Edwards would still like to bring in plenty more additions ahead of their opener with Brighton next weekend.

MAN CITY

It will be intriguing to see how Man City shape up in the early part of the season after their Treble-winning exploits and the loss of key men like Ilkay Gundogan and Riyad Mahrez over the summer.

Their only addition so far is Mateo Kovacic, although Josko Gvardiol's move from RB Leipzig is seemingly imminent, but uncertainty remains over the futures of Joao Cancelo, Kyle Walker and Aymeric Laporte.

MAN UNITED

Despite reports suggesting Man United would be hampered by FFP concerns, Erik ten Hag has still managed to strengthen significantly with the additions of Mason Mount and Andre Onana, along with the imminent arrival of Rasmus Hojlund.

However, the Dutchman's recruitment is not done with long-term target Sofyan Amrabat among the midfielders under consideration.

NOTTINGHAM FOREST

After bringing in 22 players last summer and 30 across the whole season, it has been much quieter so far at the City Ground this year with just three senior additions.

SHEFFIELD UNITED

It was a major blow for Sheffield United to lose talisman Iliman Ndiaye, but the Blades will hope to reinvest these before the window closes.

Despite off-field troubles last season, Paul Heckingbottom kept the squad focused to secure a return to the Premier League and he will hope to bring in some experienced top flight stars such as Ainsley Maitland-Niles, while United would love nothing more than James McAtee back on loan for another season.

WEST HAM

As the only Premier League club yet to make a signing this summer, West Ham are in danger of losing all the goodwill and positivity built up by their Europa League COnference win.

They desperately need to replace Declan Rice in midfield, while a reliable and relatively young striker is also desirable as David Moyes aims to avoid another battle against relegation.

What they need: left back, centre back, midfielders, striker
