Monaco submit offer for Juventus’ Denis Zakaria

Fabrizio Romano is reporting that AS Monaco have submitted an opening offer to Juventus for midfielder Denis Zakaria (26), who spent last season on loan at Chelsea.

Monaco are looking to reinforce their midfield this season. The Principality club have already lost Jean Lucas, who has returned to Brazil and joined Santos. It is expected that Les Monégasques will also lose Youssouf Fofana, although no club has made concrete advances. Centre-back Axel Disasi is also touted for a departure, but once again, no official bid has come in for the France international. It is thought that, whilst both players feature on the shortlists of multiple clubs, neither are top targets.

Whilst Fofana’s long-term Monaco future remains uncertain, the Principality club are looking to strengthen in this area of the pitch. Zakaria spent last season on loan at Chelsea. Now back at Juventus, he is now assessing his options. Monaco have made the Swiss midfielder a priority target. New Monaco manager Adi Hütter has worked with Zakaria previously.

Monaco have made a concrete move, submitting an offer, but West Ham United are also engaged in negotiations with the Serie A side. Many other clubs want Zakaria, according to Romano.
