The officialisation of Christophe Galtier’s departure and Luis Enrique’s arrival at Paris Saint-Germain is set to take place this week, perhaps on Wednesday, according to Le Parisien.
Galtier’s departure from PSG is one of football’s worst-kept secrets. The French manager was reportedly told that he wouldn’t be leading Les Parisiens into the 2023/24 season the day after the final game of the season, during which the club were crowned Ligue 1 champions. However, that title wasn’t enough to save Galtier, who will depart PSG just halfway into a two-year contract having arrived from OGC Nice last year.
Finding an agreement between the club, Galtier, and his backroom staff has been a work in progress, but a deal now seems to have been struck. Galtier is expected to receive €6m in compensation. Once his departure is officialised, Enrique will then be officially announced as PSG’s new manager. This changeover will take place in mid-week, according to Le Parisien, perhaps on Wednesday.
The Spaniard will sign a two-year contract, which may include a clause to extend for a further year. The former Barcelona manager is finalising his contract, but is already in constant contact with the club’s hierarchy, notably communicating on PSG’s ongoing transfer dealings. Once in place, Enrique will also have to establish a list of “undesirables” as the club looks to reduce its squad size.
