Antoine Griezmann gets over France's World Cup heartbreak by sporting an eye-catching new pink buzz

Atletico Madrid star Antoine Griezmann returned to La Liga action following France's World Cup heartbreak with an eye-catching dyed pink buzz cut.

The 31-year-old, who was part of Didier Deschamp's World Cup final side, played in Qatar with blond hair but has opted to change things up.

Griezmann was one of France's best players in Qatar, and although he did not score during the tournament, his performances were influential in carrying Les Bleus to a successive World Cup final.

His new look stunned fans at the Metropolitano Stadium but he backed up the flair with two assists.

Griezmann and Co climbed into third in La Liga with a 2-0 win against Elche with the Atletico No 8 teeing up Joao Felix for the first goal, and Alvaro Morata for the second.

It's not the first time Griezmann has donned an alternative hairstyle, with the attacking midfielder dying his hair green with a pink love heart in August.

Since Didier Deschamps' side returned from Qatar, Griezmann has found himself in the middle of the Karim Benzema France fallout - which ultimately led to the Real Madrid star retiring from international duty.

It's understood that Benzema's presence caused tension with Griezmann as new details emerged from his acrimonious split.

Spanish news outlet AS reported hat Griezmann felt too much social media coverage was spent on the Real Madrid striker and not covering him during the build up and during the tournament.

The report goes on to claim that Griezmann was 'concerned' over how little he appeared on social media compared to Benzema, which nearly prompted an 'executive meeting' with the French Football Federation to address these concerns.
