England finally lifted their ITV 'curse' with their 3-0 victory over Senegal in the World Cup Round of 16.
The Three Lions secured their passage to the quarter-finals where they will face France next Saturday.
After a poor first 38 minutes, Jordan Henderson broke the deadlock for Gareth Southgate's side, before Harry Kane added a second on the stroke of half-time.
Bukayo Saka confirmed the victory in the 57th minute, as England eased to victory at the Al Bayt Stadium.
Along with reaching the last eight of the World Cup, England also seemingly lifted the 'Curse of ITV', with the game being shown on the channel.
The Three Lions have had an appalling record when their World Cup matches have been screened live on the commercial channel.
Before the Senegal game, since 1998, England had won just two of their 15 World Cup matches on ITV – compared with an astounding 12 out of 16 on the BBC.
This meant England's win percentage on ITV was just 13 per cent, compared to a much more prosperous 75 per cent on the BBC.
Following this game, England's win percentage on the channel was upped to 19 per cent.
There was significant belief from England fans in the so-called 'curse' so far at this tournament, with England's two games on the BBC against Iran and Wales seeing a combined 9-2 scoreline in favour of England.
On the other hand, ITV broadcast the Three Lions drab 0-0 draw with the USA in their second group fixture.
Even BBC's Gary Lineker could hardly contain himself at poking fun at his ITV counterparts when England clinched their place in the knockout stages.
At the end of the coverage of the 3-0 win over Wales in their final group fixture, when referencing the clash with Senegal, Lineker had said: 'And that’s on live on, well – uh – ITV. Oh well.’
And England fans were quick to jump on the Three Lions finally overcoming the curse on Twitter after the game.
One supporter said: 'Think this might be the moment we finally lift the ITV curse.'
Another added: 'In your face #ITVcurse!!!'
A further fan rejoiced: 'Ending the ITV curse give the man (Gareth Southgate) a knighthood.'
Elsewhere, optimistic fans felt the ending of the curse meant that everything was falling into place for England to finally lift the World Cup.
One said: 'Even the ITV curse can’t bring us down! Bring on France!'
Another said: 'This England team is so fresh and young, even the ITV curse isn’t enough to stop them winning…'
A further user quipped: 'I take it England have broken the ITV curse and dare I say it's coming.......'
Meanwhile, one eagle-eyed supporter was quick to point out that England's quarter-final with France is likely to be on the same channel.
They said: 'So much for the ITV curse eh? And as far as I understand it, ITV have first choice of the quarter-finals too, so will show England v France next weekend.'
