L’Équipe report this morning that Rennes forward Martin Terrier is set to miss this weekend’s game against Lille after picking up a hamstring problem in his team’s Europa League group stage draw against Larnaca.
The 25-year-old was substituted just before the hour mark on Thursday, and has suffered a slight muscle strain. Terrier will undergo further tests midway through next week to determine whether he will be available for the Bretons’ following match, against Toulouse, for the last fixture before the World Cup.
The former French youth international had played in 40 consecutive games for Rennes, since missing a Coupe de France tie in January after testing positive for Covid-19. He has 11 goals across all competitions this season, following up on his 21 scored in the league last year.
It remains to be seen whether the injury could impact a potential World Cup selection for Terrier, who has not yet featured for the senior team but was on Didier Deschamps’ extended squad list for this year’s June and September internationals.
