Kylian Mbappe's future was a huge talking point in the 2021/22 season.

The Frenchman was in the last year of his contract with Paris Saint-Germain and, with Real Madrid heavily interested, it looked as if he would make the move to Real Madrid.

However, Mbappe decided to stay at PSG and signed a lucrative three-year extension with the French giants.

Mbappe was given a mammoth pay-rise which saw him become the highest-paid player in the world.

But how do his wages compare to the world's best strikers?

Fbref, using data via Capology, have recently listed the 100 highest-paid players in the world.

17 strikers feature in the top 100 and you can view how much they earn below…

17. Romelu Lukaku | Inter Milan (On loan from Chelsea) | £166,352-per-week

16. Memphis Depay | Barcelona | £168,946-per-week

15. Sebastian Haller | Bourssia Dortmund | £178,350-per-week

14. Darwin Nunez | Liverpool | £179,423-per-week

13. Roberto Firmino | Liverpool | £180,000-per-week

12. Lautaro Martinez | Inter Milan | £180,134-per-week

2. Cristiano Ronaldo | Manchester United | £515,385-per-week

1. Kylian Mbappe | Paris Saint-Germain | £1.473,984-per-week

Mbappe's wage is just ridiculous. He earns almost 3x more per-week than Ronaldo in second place.

Benzema, who is expected to win his first Ballon d'Or trophy later this year, rounds out the podium spots.

Jesus, who completed the move from Man City to Arsenal this summer, takes sixth behind Lewandowski and Haaland.

Martial, despite only scoring twice in the 2021/22 season, is the seventh highest-paid striker in the world.

Kane is one of the Premier League's best strikers and just sneaks into the top 10, earning a cool £200,000-per-week.

Those that finished just outside the top 10 include Liverpool duo, Nunez and Firmino.

While Lukaku took a substantial pay-cut to re-join Inter Milan on loan for the 2022/23 season and is now the 17th highest-paid striker in the world.
