Renan Lodi in Manchester City's sights

Renan Lodi is one of the names that has been mentioned as possibly leaving Atletico Madrid this summer should the club look to balance their books.

However, just when it seemed as though Lodi was set to stay in Spain, reports suggest Manchester City and Pep Guardiola are keen to secure his services.

According to The Telegraph, the Citizens have been tracking the 24-year-old for some time.

While Lodi has become a regular fixture in Tite's Brazilian national team, the left-back hasn't been able to establish himself as an undisputed starter at the Metropolitano since joining in the summer of 2019.

After four seasons at Atletico, Lodi's defensive lapses have made Diego Simeone turn to other options at times.

Simeone's decision to switch to a 3-5-2 resulted in Lodi being relegated to the bench, with Yannick Carrasco starting on the left.

In fact, Atletico even brought Reinildo in during the January transfer window to reinforce the left-back position, though the Mozambican has settled in as a central defender.

Nevertheless, Atletico are still counting on Lodi for the upcoming season, though a big offer could change all that.

Other candidates

Along with Lodi, Manchester City are looking at several options when it comes to the left-back position.

Raphael Guerreiro, Borna Sosa and Kieran Tierney are some of the names being looked at by Guardiola.

With Marc Cucurella joining Chelsea instead of City, it seems as though the Manchester side are ready to splash the cash to bring in a new reinforcement.
