Jorginho's mother Facetime with Jorginho: "you are my pride"

As part of the celebrations for International Women's Day, Jorginho gives an intimate look behind the scenes with an emotional chat with his mother, revealing the huge impact she has had on his life and his career.

Giving a rare insight into their private life, Jorginho reveals how his mother Maria became his inspiration as a footballer, as they share old memories of her introducing him to the sport on trips to the beach in Brazil, so he wouldn't break things playing at home, and taking her young son along on the bus to watch her matches.

Maria explains: 'When you were two you were desperate to play football at home, you wanted the ball all the time. As your loving mother I knew that you would become a football player and I didn't want to take the ball away from you, so I'd take you to the beach.'

Maria also emotionally confesses that watching her son board to plane alone to move away in pursuit of a professional career in Europe at the age of 15 was the hardest thing she has ever done, but can't hide her pride at everything Jorginho has achieved since, as they compare the list of honours they have won in their respective football careers.

'I cried a lot in that airport when I saw you leaving,' adds Maria. 'You were on the other side of the ocean, just 15 years old, without a penny in your pocket. Only strong characters can achieve what you did.'
