The classiest new MLS 2022 season jerseys

With the start of the new 2022 Major League Soccer season set to get underway later this week, we look at some of the new and most aesthetically pleasing season jerseys from the teams.

The 27th Major League Soccer season gets underway on Saturday 26 February with the action kicking off slightly earlier this year to cater for the 2022 World Cup which starts in November in Qatar.

As always, the new season means new players, new coaching staff and this season even a new team in the shape of Charlotte FC who become the 28th side to make up the league after Austin FC joined in 2021. As always it's the presentation and unveiling of new season kits that gets many fans buzzing with the new campaign just around the corner.

After a painstaking process of filtering through the latest releases, here's the AS USA Top 5 x MLS 2022 jerseys.

1) Portland Timbers (away)

Beaten finalists in the 2021 MLS Cup final, the Timbers have launched which is arguably the most eye-catching jersey in the entire league with their 'Heritage Rose' shirt.

The jersey features a dynamic, pink-forward colorway highlighted by a rose floral pattern across the front. The jersey base is rooted in “Vapour Pink,” with accents in “Victory Crimson” across the collar, shoulder and sleeve cuffs. The design is a vibrant, rose themed kit – an ode to The Rose City.

2) Charlotte FC (away)

The first home shirt for the new MLS franchise is nothing extraordinary with the blue and white shirt not precisely one to turn heads. The away shirt for Charlotte's debut MLS season is a different matter with their 'Newly Minted Community' kit a real eye-catcher.

The black and mint green shirt is flooded in black and rounded out with culturally relevant graphic patterns in the neck tape and sleeve cuffs and is not dissimilar to the current Nigeria away effort.

3) Atlanta United (away)

The 'Five Stripes' will don the 'Forest Kit' for trips away from Georgia with the new white and green effort.

The city boasts more tree canopy than any other major city, which is why it's known as the "City in the Forest."  with the 2022 secondary kit representing the club's commitment to sustainability.

4) Inter Miami (home)

Despite a poor season on the pitch last season, the Florida based franchise continue to dazzle in pink.

The 'Heartbeat Kit' from Inter is another smart effort with the shirt the only in MLS this season to feature a collar. The club state that the jersey is: "Inspired by and designed for the fans of Inter Miami CF – the true heartbeat of the team – the kit is the first all-pink jersey for the club."

5) FC Dallas (home)

The iconic red and blue are the principal color ingredients of the 2022 season effort from the Texans. The jersey features diagonal lines in dynamic patterns across the front chest which represent FC Dallas’ popular hoop patterns from iconic uniforms of years’ past.

 According to the club, the Crescendo kit, "evokes development and movement. As FC Dallas enters a new era with first-year head coach Nico Estévez, the Crescendo kit symbolizes Dallas’ commitment to building towards the organization’s ultimate goal of winning MLS Cup".
