Arsenal: Alexandre Lacazette sends Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang farewell message and hints at exit

Alexandre Lacazette has sent an emotional farewell message to former Arsenal strike partner Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang following his move to Barcelona - while also hinting at his own departure from the club.

Aubameyang, 32, put pen to paper on a three-year deal with Barca after terminating his £350,000-a-week contract with Arsenal, a move which cost the north London club £7million, reports The Times.

The Gabon international only fired them to victory in the FA Cup final 18 months ago, but following a number of disciplinary breaches and a fall-out with Mikel Arteta he was ultimately deemed surplus to requirements at the Emirates.

Regardless, Lacazette still paid tribute to his ex-Gunners colleague by writing a farewell message on Twitter.

Along with a photo of the pair embracing for Arsenal, the Frenchman said to Aubameyang: 'My bro !! Thanks for the last 4 years , my experience in arsenal would have been different without you.. Wish you good luck in your next chapter !'

And in cryptic fashion, Lacazette concluded the message by writing: 'See you soon' along with a smirking and laughing emoji.

Like Aubameyang was before the termination of his deal, Lacazette is out of contract at Arsenal in the summer and does not appear close to an extension.

The 30-year-old, who has scored 70 goals in 192 appearances for the Gunners, is said to have turned down an extension offer amid interest from ex-club Lyon.

French outlet L'Equipe are reporting that Lyon are in talks with their former striker about a potential return upon the expiry of his contract this summer.

Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has stressed that the French side will 'do their best' to secure a deal for Lacazette, who departed to join Arsenal in 2017.

The player has also been linked with a move to Atletico Madrid amid doubts over his future at Arsenal.

Lacazette is not the only striker on his way out of the Emirates this summer, with youngster Eddie Nketiah's contract also up at the end of June.
