These two sides met in La Liga twice last month with Real Madrid winning both clashes by narrow one-goal margins and Carlo Ancelotti's men will be wary of the Basque side who have caused them plenty of problems recently.

Real Madrid are favourites to beat Athletic Club at 8/11 with bet365. At 7/2 to win, Athletic are considered clear underdogs.

Karim Benzema is 3/1 to be first goalscorer, while Inaki WIlliams can be backed at 7/1.

Seven of the last 11 meetings between these sides have seen under 2.5 goals and a repeat can be backed at evens.

Real Madrid won both of the league meetings between these sides in December, triumphing 1-0 at the Bernabeu before winning 1-0 in Bilbao.

On both occasions, however, Athletic spurned a number of excellent opportunities to find the back of the net and the side from the Basque Country are likely to prove difficult opponents once more.

Marcelino Garcia's team beat Real Madrid on their way to claiming the Spanish Super Cup last year, and while Carlo Ancelotti's men are understandably favourites, Sunday's game looks set to be highly competitive.
