Inter did the double over Sheriff, beating them 3-1 in Tiraspol after winning by the same scoreline at in Milan on the previous Champions League matchday.
The result means the Italians overtake Sheriff and are now in second place, just two points behind Real Madrid, who also won on Wednesday in the earlier kick off.
Second half goals from Marcelo Brozovic, Milan Skriniar and Alexis Sanchez got the job done for the visitors. The impressive Brozovic got things going with a powerful strike for the first and then his ball set Alexis Sanchez off for the third.
On the next matchday, Inter welcome Shakhtar Donetsk, who have just one point, while Sheriff will play host to Real Madrid, who they beat at the Estadio Santiago Bernabeu on the second matchday.
