Robert Lewandowski’s incredible campaign
Robert Lewandowski had an exceptional individual season, even by his own lofty standards.
The Polish international netted an astonishing 41 goals in just 29 Bundesliga appearances, smashing a record set by Gerd Muller in the 1971-72 season for most goals in a single Bundesliga campaign.
Unsurprisingly, the exploits of Lewandowski were enough to win him the Bundesliga player of the season, winning a whopping 64 per cent of the vote in the process. The next highest vote winner was Thomas Muller, who picked up just 7.3 per cent of the vote.
Amazon documentary in the works
Now, according to media reports in his native Poland, Lewandowski is set to make a documentary about his life and his rise to stardom, which will be featured on popular streaming service Amazon Prime.
The Polish hitman, who has scored 69 goals in 122 international appearances, promises to tell the story “as it was” with “no beautification”. He continued:
“I would like this document to become an inspiration for kids who dream of achieving something great, but do not fully believe in themselves.”
The new release will document Lewandowski’s rise from Legia Warsaw to Borussia Dortmund, and to stardom leading the line for Bayern Munich, and will add to a growing set of documentaries surrounding players and clubs which includes the popular all or nothing series.
The film will be available worldwide in 2022, although a specific release date is yet to be announced, and will be available to watch on Amazon Prime Video.
