Norwich City preparing for a Todd Cantwell bid from Aston Villa to replace Jack Grealish

Norwich City are braced for interest from Aston Villa in talented midfielder Todd Cantwell.

Villa are assessing options as they await an offer from Manchester City for their £100million-rated captain Jack Grealish.

Cantwell has been outstanding in Norwich's promotion season, carrying on where he left off in the Premier League the previous campaign, and the 23-year-old is not short of admirers.

Norwich are well aware of interest in their star players such as Cantwell, Max Aarons and Emiliano Buendia. They do not have to sell but there is a long-held recognition from the club hierarchy that should players wish to move on, and suitable fees are offered, bids would be considered.

Norwich are equally mindful of giving Daniel Farke a fighting chance to remain in the top flight next season and the cost of replacing such talent.

With that in mind, it is understood they would want around £30m each for Cantwell and Aarons, while Buendia is rated at around £40m.

An offer from Roma for Aarons was rejected in January and the Italians are expected to return this summer.

They will face stern competition from Everton, who are understood to be favoured by the England U21 right-back, but the Goodison club are reluctant to pay that £30m price.

Everton have also been offered the chance to sign Atletico Madrid's Kieran Trippier but, at 21, Aarons represents greater long-term investment. Everton also know last summer's impressive £20m signing from Norwich, Ben Godfrey, is a good friend of Aarons, which would help him settle.

Everton want competition for captain Seamus Coleman and an eventual successor. Jonjoe Kenny, currently on loan at Celtic, has not been favoured by Carlo Ancelotti and is expected to move on, with Burnley retaining an interest.
