Keylor Navas and Angel di Maria have both won the Champions League with Real Madrid, but now at Paris Saint-Germain they are one of their former club's main rivals for the trophy.
The pair have plenty in common, besides both having played for Real Madrid and PSG. Both are from Latin America, have over 90 international caps, are over 30 years old and have won the Champions League before, along with many domestic titles.
They were also pushed out of Real Madrid sooner than they would have liked and arguably have a point to prove at PSG as the draw for the final rounds of this year's Champions League means that the French side could face Real Madrid in the final.
PSG are desperate for their first taste of success in this tournament, having lost out to Bayern in last year's final, and for Navas and Di Maria this year is another chance to show that it's possible to win the Champions League even after being deemed surplus to requirements at Real Madrid.
Going all the way this year would be the ultimate vindication, not only of PSG's project, but on a personal level for these two players.
The former Real Madrid men, who never actually played together for Los Blancos, are both key players for Mauricio Pochettino and his plans to win PSG a first Champions League title.
PSG's latest push for Champions League glory
The final last year was PSG's first appearance in what is arguably the greatest showpiece in club football and it was also their first semi-final appearance in the 21st century.
Now, the French club have made it back-to-back semi-final appearances as they seem to have broken through, at least partially, the psychological barrier separating them from Europe's elite.
Much like Manchester City, PSG's wealth, domestic dominance and talented squad point to a club that should be a Champions League contender every year and yet, before last season, they had fallen at the round of 16 for three consecutive years and at the quarter-final stage in the previous four years.
Now, though, PSG feel like they belong at the top table and eliminating their conquerors in last year's final in this season's quarter-final was a big statement from the Parisians.
A team full of stars
In Neymar and Kylian Mbappe, PSG have two genuinely world-class players who are nightmare for any defence in the world, but just as vital to their success are Navas and Di Maria.
The Costa Rican goalkeeper, a three-time Champions League winner, has 17 clean sheets in 36 club games this season and has a solid penalty-saving record, which can always come in handy in knockout tournaments.
The Argentine, meanwhile, has four assists in eight Champions League appearances this season and 13 in all competitions, which is more than Mbappe or Neymar.
Their experience, as well as their character and quality on the pitch, will be crucial to PSG's hopes of going all the way this season.
Whether they pull it off or not, Navas and Di Maria are showing that they've still got what it takes to have an impact at the top level and that there is life after Real Madrid.
