Ex-Genoa player Branco in intensive care

Former Genoa, Brescia and Middlesbrough full-back Branco is in intensive care and has been intubated after COVID-19 complications.
He is due to turn 57 next month and currently works with the Brazilian Federation on their youth teams.
Branco was taken into hospital on Tuesday in Rio de Janeiro with breathing difficulties and the situation has deteriorated.
“The condition of his lungs has made it necessary to use mechanical help to aid the patient’s breathing,” read a statement from the Copa Star hospital.
“Branco is in intensive care, he is constantly monitored and the situation can be defined as stable over the last 24 hours.”
Branco played for Genoa from 1991-93, but also represented Brescia, Middlesbrough, Metro Stars and FC Porto, along with several clubs in Brazil.
