Everton fans fume as club prepare to confirm arrival of Sammy Lee alongside Sam Allardyce

Hundreds of Everton fans have expressed their anger and frustration after hearing the news that Liverpool legend Sammy Lee will move to the club alongside Sam Allardyce.

Sportsmail exclusively revealed that the former England manager will be confirmed as the new manager at Goodison Park this week after agreeing a deal worth in the region of £6million per year.

While many fans are already dissatisfied with the choice of Allardyce, the fact that he will bring long-time ally and renowned Liverpool fan Lee with him has been too much for some Toffees to take.

One fan claimed his late uncle will be 'turning in his grave' after hearing the news while another suggested any season ticket holder over the age of 30 would be moving their seats within 'spitting range' of Lee.

Lee has been Allardyce's right-hand man for much of his managerial career, acting as his assistant at Bolton Wanderers, his short stint as England manager and, most recently, at Crystal Palace.

His coaching skills are highly valued by Allardyce, but a selection of Everton fans are failing to see past his 35-year association with Liverpool, which saw him make over 300 appearances and win two European Cups in a 10-year stint.

Lee was also the assistant to Rafa Benitez during his time in charge at Anfield and even took the reigns of the first-team to cover for the Spaniard after he fell ill with a bout of kidney stones.

However, it is understood that Lee is hugely motivated to succeed at Goodison Park and is still scorned from the unceremonious manner in which he was booted out of his coaching role at Anfield following the arrival of Kenny Dalglish in 2011.

Allardyce hopes to complete his backroom team with the recently sacked Leicester boss Craig Shakespeare, goalkeeping coach Martyn Margetson and fitness coach Ryland Morgan.
