West Ham are ready to double Declan Rice's wages in a new deal after fighting to keep the England midfielder at the club.

Rice had been strongly linked with a move to Chelsea this summer - with Frank Lampard an admirer of the player who was released by the club aged 14 – but West Ham’s £80million valuation proved too much for the Blues.

As it stands, the 21-year-old is under contract with the Hammers until the summer of 2024, but David Moyes keen to reward Rice for his commitment to the club and prevent any potential suitors from stealing his prized possession.

Therefore, according to The Sun, West Ham are prepared to double Rice’s wage – taking him from £60,000 per week to £120,000 per week.

The contract will not only give Rice a lucrative new salary, but will look to extend his stay at the London Stadium.

Co-owners David Sullivan and David Gold are committed to keeping Rice at the club, having already raised his salary from £3,000-a-week to £60,000-a-week in the first two years of his five year deal.

Despite having a host of European clubs interested in his signature, Rice has continued to perform on the pitch.

Rice has established himself as an integral part of West Ham's midfield and last season was named their Young Player of the Year for the third season running.

At international level, after opting to switch allegiance after three caps for the Republic of Ireland, he has been a mainstay in Gareth Southgate's England squad since making his debut last year.
