Arsenal are looking to add Brentford set piece coach Andreas Georgson to their staff for next season, according to reports.
Mikel Arteta was rocked this week by the departure of club legend and first-team coach Freddie Ljungberg, with the ex-Sweden international looking to venture into a head coach role.
Ljungberg was the interim Arsenal coach before Arteta's arrival in December last year, but was kept on as a coach by the Spaniard despite making wholesale changes to his backroom team.
And according to the Evening Standard, Arteta has identified Georgson as Ljungberg's replacement, with talks between the two sides at an early stage.
Fellow Swedish coach Georgson joined the Bees their head of set pieces and individual development in January and immediately made a difference in dead ball situations.
The Bees conceded just 10 goals all season, the fourth lowest in the Championship, as the west Londoners reached the play-off final, where they lost to Fulham.
Arsenal, meanwhile, conceded 12 goals from dead ball situations in the Premier League last term, but they managed to score 16 from attacking set plays - only Crystal Palace managed more with 19.
Georgson is part of Brentford's data-driven model based on statistical analysis involving Expected Goals (xG) and has been spotted at matches taking photos and videos of the club's set plays from the stands.
It is a similar role to what Ljungberg had at Arsenal, with the ex-Gunners star asked to analyse matches from the directors' box and not next to Arteta in the dugout.
Georgson would not be the first Brentford coach that Arsenal have handpicked this season, with goalkeeping coach Inaki Cana joining Arteta's coaching staff last winter.
Cana's work has seen Emiliano Martinez make solid improvements in the Gunners' FA Cup-winning season, while first-choice Bernd Leno finished as the runner-up in Arsenal's Player of the Season Award.
Also among Arteta's staff are ex-Manchester United coaches Steve Round and Albert Stuivenberg and goalkeeping coach Sal Bibbo.
