Ivo Grbic: A safe bet

Atletico Madrid are adding a safe pair of hands to their goalkeeping ranks in the form of Croatian Ivo Grbic.

The 24-year-old joins Los Rojiblancos with the full support of sporting director Andrea Berta, but also the backing of his country.

Berta is convinced that Grbic has all the quality needed to succeed in Madrid and he has tracked his progress closely over the last two years.

Since coming through at Hajduk Split and impressing between 2018 and 2020 with Lokomotiva Zagreb, Atleti have been keeping a watchful eye over his form.

There was no hesitation on the club's part to make the Croatian their second largest goalkeeping investment in recent years after signing Jan Oblak for 16 million euros, and Grbic is now Croatia's most expensive goalkeeper.

Both Oblak and Thibaut Courtois joined Los Rojiblancos as relative unknowns - though the latter came on loan at 19 after signing for Chelsea from Genk - before going on to great things and they'll be hopeful that their latest signing will follow their paths.
