Arsenal fans react as former Gunner hits Germany debut hat-trick

Serge Gnabry made a perfect start to life in the senior Germanyset-up as the former Arsenal midfielder scored a debut hat-trick during Friday's demolition of San Marino.

Gnabry left Arsenal for Werder Bremen this summer, and was rewarded for his impressive Bundesliga form with a first cap for Joachim Low's world champions.

Low was without six regulars including Jerome Boateng, Manuel Neuer, Toni Kroos and Arsenal star Mesut Ozil, giving Gnabry the chance to shine against minnows San Marino - and he did just that.

A big result was always expected given the world champions are 199 places above San Marino, and Gnabry - joint-top scorer at the Rio 2016 Olympics - scored Germany's second after Sami Khedira opened the Nationalmannschaft account.

Gnabry nabbed his second with a volley after the interval, and notched his hat-trick goal in the same fashion as Germany ran out comfortable winners.

The win ensured maximum points for Germany on the road to Russia 2018 so far, and led to a number of Arsenal fans questioning Arsene Wenger's decision to sell Gnabry this summer.

I said this when @Arsenal started him, even when he went on loan - Gnabry is going to be incredible - What a awful decision to let him go

I normally understand when and why young players leave Arsenal, but Serge Gnabry's departure will always leave a sour taste in my mouth.

I'm not one to mourn over sold players but Gnabry starting for Germany already says a lot :(
