Leicester City are planning a £31million swoop for Real Madrid flop Luka Jovic as they search for a new striker partner for Jamie Vardy.

Jovic was viewed as a huge talent upon his arrival at the Bernabeu for a £54million move to Eintracht Frankfurt after an impressive campaign with the Bundesliga club.

However, after a torrid time since joining Los Blancos under Zinedine Zidane in his first season, the club are willing to listen to offers for the 22-year-old.

Madrid were initially hoping to loan out the Serbian international, however, due to the financial impact of the coronavirus pandemic they are willing to get a cut price for Jovic.

Leicester City boss Brendan Rodgers addressed the interest in the striker, as according to the Daily Star, he 'believes a change of scene could help rediscover his goalscoring form.'

The Foxes have even approached the striker's agent, as Arsenal also step up their interest in Jovic, in order to enquire about his interest in departing from the LaLiga giants.

Leicester have previously scouted and shown interest in Jovic, but were unable to compete with Madrid in the market after his impressive season in Germany.

Rodgers is hoping to find a partner for striker Jamie Vardy to take the pressure off the 33-year-old, who is currently the leading goalscorer in the Premier League.

The former Frankfurt frontman has scored just twice for Madrid in 25 matches and it is believed an offer north of £30million would secure his services.

Both of Jovic's goals for Madrid came up against Leganes and Osasuna in LaLiga, whilst he failed to strike in four Champions League appearances, three Copa Del Rey matches and a couple Supercopa outings.

Jovic has also struggled to settle off the pitch after being involved in several coronavirus-related controversies.

The striker was threatened with arrest after breaking lockdown rules as he returned to Serbia from Madrid after he picked up a foot injury.

He has also sparked more controversy after attending a barbecue and flouting social distancing guidelines.

The 22-year-old is now self-isolating and is currently unavailable for selection, after one of his friends tested positive for the killer virus.
