Liverpool finally ended 30 years of pain when they were crowned Premier League champions on Thursday night.

Manchester City's defeat to Chelsea confirmed the Reds' long wait was over as they sealed their 19th league title and first since the 1989-90 season - before the advent of the Premier League.

Jordan Henderson and the rest of the Liverpool squad gathered together to watch the Chelsea-City match on television and the celebrations lasted until the early hours of Friday morning.

The Reds are now 23 points clear of closest challengers City with seven matches to go. The Reds have chalked up an astonishing 28 wins, two draws and only one defeat from their 31 matches so far this campaign, just some of the astonishing figures Liverpool have put up this season.

Only 5 members of Jurgen Klopp's squad had been born. Adrian, Andy Lonergan, Dejan Lovren, James Milner and Adam Lallana.

Klopp was a 22-year-old striker at Rot-Weiss Frankfurt and was finalising a move to Mainz, beginning an 18-year affiliation with the club which includes seven seasons as a manager.

Owner John W Henry had just failed in his first attempt to buy a sports team, the NBA's Orlando Magic. Henry had to wait another eight years to make his first outright purchase - baseball's Florida Marlins in 1999 for $158million (then £98m).

Neil Critchley, who took charge of two Carabao Cup matches in Klopp's absence this season before taking over the head coach role at Blackpool, was just 11-years-old. Klopp's assistant Pep Lijnders was seven.

Records still to break this season...
