Henderson helps to launch eBay shirts raffle to raise funds for NHS heroes

Jordan Henderson is leading another drive to raise cash for the NHS.

The Liverpool captain — who was instrumental in setting up a players’ fund to provide financial assistance for equipment and health workers — has once again picked up the mantle.

Henderson, 29, is playing a leading role in a proposed joint initiative between online auctioneers eBay and the new Players Together campaign.

Known as #shirtsforheroes, the drive would see each first-team player from every top-flight club sign a shirt which would then be placed into a huge raffle on eBay.

Tickets would cost £5 each and be restricted to a maximum of five per fan, with funds raised going into the healthcare system.

It is understood that eBay have already written to the Premier League. Legal documents have been composed, and it is understood that it is now down to each club to decide whether they wish to participate.

Should, as expected, such permissions be forthcoming, the campaign will launch later this month and would represent further evidence of England international Henderson’s admirable efforts off the field.

The former Sunderland man is understood to have been acting as a go-between amid talks between eBay, the Premier League and the clubs. All the funds raised would go to NHS Charities Together, which oversees the work of more than 140 member charities.

Players and clubs would be asked to promote the raffle with videos on their social media channels, in conjunction with eBay.
