Wijnaldum gets tool kit out as Liverpool star gets some DIY in during lockdown

Gini Wijnaldum is fully embracing the life of a dad after announcing the birth of his third child this week, getting down to some household chores.

The Liverpool midfielder announced his son Julian Emilio Wijnaldum was born in April, his third child with partner Mirella Pereira after Ki-Yean and Jacian.

The Dutchman posted a picture of him unboxing a new drill set on Instagram with the caption: 'Time to get working on those chores, excuses ran out'.

Wijnaldum may be a little late to the DIY party, with the country having already been in lockdown for six weeks!

As with all of the winger's posts, most comments related to his contract, with one worried Reds fans writing: 'Hope you're not flat packing your furniture ahead of a move??'

The 29-year-old's influence in the Reds XI has grown deeper into the Jurgen Klopp era at Anfield, but the two parties appear to have reached a stalemate over a new deal.

Wijnaldum's contract is set to expire in the summer of 2021 and his departure would be a blow in midfield, with Adam Lallana set to leave the club this summer and Naby Keita's future uncertain.

As Wijnaldum ponders his new deal in lockdown, he is also being forced to wait patiently for his first Premier League title, which Liverpool will surely confirm by continuing their dominance soon after the season restarts.
