Donald Trump, the president of the United States of America, recommended using disinfectant and sunlight with patients who have coronavirus, with the former leading to over 100 poisonings in the country.
Later, Trump simply stated that he was being sarcastic, but it was too late.
The state of Maryland, according to information provided by the governor's office, has sent an emergency alert to the population after receiving more than 100 calls about the consumption of disinfectant as a possible treatment for COVID-19.
The New York Department of Health published a message on the matter.
"Under no circumstances should disinfectants or cleaning products be used to treat or prevent COVID-19," they said in a tweet.
According to the New York Daily News, there were about 30 cases of possible poisoning in the state.
